Hutchinson Utsey

Ms. Nell Hutchinson Utsey, age 86, of Selma, AL died on Thursday, November 9, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Visitation was held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 11, 2006 at 11:00 am at Silas Baptist Church with Rev. Don Whigham and Rev. Wilton Bennett officiating. Burial was in Edgar Cemetery in Silas, Alabama.

Ms. Utsey was an employee of the Town of Gilbertown, former Mayor of Silas and Co-founder and Owner of Choctaw Manufacturing Co. in Silas, Alabama.

Survivors include: sons, Malcolm Utsey of Silas, AL and James Utsey of Selma, AL; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Utsey.

Pallbearers included her grandsons, James Bradley Utsey, Jerry Lamar Utsey, III, Randolph Malcolm Utsey, III, Bradley Lamer Utsey, James Charles Utsey and a special friend, Claude Brown Wimberly.

Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler, AL was in charge of the arrangements.

Hazel Morrow

Hazel Morrow,102, died on Monday, November 13, 2006 at a local nursing home.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 15, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur, Alabama, officiated by long-time friend, Dr. Bill Hacker.

Burial will follow at Decatur City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Roselawn Chapel.

Miss Morrow was born on April 4, 1904, in Shelby County, Alabama.

She spent most of her adult life in Decatur, Alabama where she was a long-time employee of State National Bank in Decatur.

She moved to Selma sixteen years ago to share a home with her sister, the late Celia Maddox Munroe. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Selma.

The last surviving member of her immediate family, she is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including Sybil Mott of Selma and Mary Ann Norris of Sardis.

Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Ceola Rollind

Ceola Rollind, age 68, of Selma, AL died on November 6, 2006 in a Montgomery Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on November 14, 2006 at 11:00 am at Little Rock Baptist Church with Rev. L.M. Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include one son, Willie Johnson and a dear friend, James Safford.

Andre King

Andre King, age 33, of Detroit, MI died on November 7, 2006.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date by Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

Mr. Calvin Veazey, age 61, of Selma, AL died on November 12, 2006. Funeral services and survivors will be announced at a later date by Miller Funeral Services.

Mr. Willie Smith

Mr. Willie Smith, age 70, of Selma, AL died on November 10, 2006.
