Phillips busted in meth move

Selma police narcotics officers got in the middle of a meth move this week, arresting a Selma man they said was &8220;a mule.&8221;

Brandon Glenn Phillips, 24, was arrested Wednesday and charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and jailed on $50,000 bond. Phillips had a pill bottle in his possession that contained four bags of what is believed to be crystal meth or &8220;ice,&8221; worth an estimated $400, assorted pain killers an a tablet of Extacy.

Phillips, of 2524 Highway 22 West, was stopped for speeding on U.S. Highway 80 near Medical Center Parkway. Officers reported seeing the pill bottle, and asked Phillips if he were on medication. He then allowed officers to look inside the bottle, where the drugs were found.

Phillips told police he had gone to Demopolis and brought the drugs back to Selma &8220;to get rid of,&8221; during interrogations. The 1989 Chevrolet pickup he was driving was towed to SPD headquarters.
