Lindsey named publisher of Virginia newspaper

Jesse J. Lindsey has been named publisher of The Suffolk [Va.] News-Herald and Tidewater Shopper and president of Suffolk Publications, LLC.

For the past three years, Lindsey was president of Selma Newspapers, Inc. and publisher of The Selma Times-Journal and Dollar Saver.

His successor will be named in the coming weeks. Both newspapers are managed by the Boone Newspapers organization of Tuscaloosa.

Lindsey joined The Times-Journal in January 2002 as advertising director.

Previously, he was advertising director of the Monroe County Advocate & Democrat in Sweetwater, Tenn. He began his career there in 1998.

“I am very appreciative of this new opportunity for my family and me in Suffolk,” Lindsey said.

“I look forward to becoming involved in the community and working to provide a quality community newspaper. At the same time, I am saddened to leave a wonderful team of newspaper people and a terrific community in Selma. My family has developed many friendships here that we will carry with us to Suffolk.”

Lindsey is a native of Sweetwater, Tenn. He served in the United States Air Force and attended college there. He and his wife Melanie have two children: Chance, 7, and Landon, 4, and are expecting a new baby girl in January.
