It just may be one of the best kept secrets in Selma.
Selma CareerLink, located on Water Avenue at the foot of the Edmund Pettus Bridge, makes a large array of resources available to the public free of charge.
The career center is forming more partnerships with local businesses in an effort to refer potential employees with potential employers.
Almost any resource needed to prepare oneself for a job is available at CareerLink.
The center’s resource room is equipped with Internet accessible computers and up-to-date computer software that can be used for resume writing and job searching.
The center is also equipped with a scanner, copy and fax machines and a special machine for the visually, hearing and speech impaired.
There is even a phone reserved for calling potential job leads.
The center also has on-going job shops, employee development workshops.
They offer on-the-job training with partial reimbursement for the employer.
Officials say there’s no reason for someone in Selma/Dallas County who wants to work not to be able to find a job. CareerLink is a great resource to help local residents do just that.
