To the Editor:
Today, I had the pleasure of joining a diverse group of ladies at the St. James for lunch. We all thoroughly enjoyed a most delightful lunch. The company was good, our food was delicious and our waitress, Cathy, was most pleasant and efficient. She didn’t bat an eye when we requested separate checks nor when we ordered different things off the menu.
When the food came out, she knew just who ordered what. She showed the same efficiency when it came time to pass out the checks and to dispense the change or credit card receipts.
Before our order arrived, we received a plate full of warm yeast rolls. They were delicious! Our food arrived in a reasonable time and was well worth the wait. I had a wonderful buffalo chicken wrap with homemade chips. Another member of the group had a chicken wrap, which she said was quite good. Two ladies ordered the grilled salmon salad and two ordered the Henderson House salad. The salads were large and quite tasty. The Henderson House salad included chicken, corn and fresh tomatoes. Another lady ordered the soup of the day, which was a homemade chicken vegetable soup and a sandwich. She also was very pleased with her choice.
The eighth lady in the group ordered a Cajun chicken sandwich, which she said was wonderful. The menu offered a variety of other choices, crab cakes and hamburgers, just to name a couple and each is reasonably priced.
The St. James is a great resource for Selma. Before actually moving to Selma, my husband and I stayed at the St. James on our visits here and thoroughly enjoyed our stays, but this was my first opportunity to eat lunch there. I have to say after this delightful experience it will not be my last. I work at Sturdivant Hall part time and am often asked to recommend a place to go for lunch. The next time I’m asked, I will be sure to tell them about my lunch experience. I hope that this letter will encourage others to go to the St. James when dining out and I hope that you will enjoy your meal as much as the eight of us did.
