Dr. Vance Rutledge Kane

Dr. Vance Rutledge Kane, D.M.D., 75, of Selma died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at his home.

Services will be held on Monday, September 11, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 210 Lauderdale St. with Rev. James K. Polk Van Zandt officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.

The delight in his life was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Dr. Kane is survived by his wife, Cynthia M. Kane of Selma; son, Michael Davis Kane and his wife, Deborah Sue Burton Kane of Orlando, FL; daughter, Faye Evelyn Kane Clements of Gastonia, N.C.; three grandchildren, Lamar Benjamin Powell Kane, 26, of Orlando, FL, Charles Gregory Clements, 18, of Gastonia, N.C., and Eileen Rutledge Clements, 17, of Gastonia, N.C.; stepsons, Stan Bruner and Mark Humphrey; stepdaughters, Dana Crawford and Heather Bruner.

He was a retired dentist, member of the Rotary Club, Crimestoppers Board of Directors, Community Concert Board, Child Advocacy Board, Choir member at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, and videographer for Selma High football games.

The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Cahaba Hospice and to Dr. Foster.

Pallbearers will be Dan Gentry, Steve Gentry, Brad McLaughlin, Lamar B. P. Kane, Charles G. Clements, Rev. Winston Williams, Art Scoggins, and Stan Bruner.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Monday, September 11, 2006 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards for Scholarship or Selma Dallas County Crimestoppers.
