Crystal Michelle Bonner

Crystal Michelle Bonner, age 33, of Selma, died August 23, 206 at Vaughan Hospital, Selma.

Funeral services are scheduled for September 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Town Creek Community Church officiated by P.E. Bonner. Burial will follow in Town Creek Cemetery. Walker Mortuary directing.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Leola Barron Johnson.

Survivors include her husband, Octavius F. Bonner; father, Johnnie Lee Johnson, Sr.; son, Christopher Octavius Bonner; two brothers, Bobby Johnson (Valerie Johnson) of Sacramento, California and Johnnie Lee Johnson Jr. of Selma; two sisters, Mary Lee King (Henry King) of Biloxi, Mississippi and Janice Johnson of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers will be Town Creek Community Church.

Kenneth L. Avery

Mr. Kenneth L. Avery, age 39, of Northport, Alabama, formerly of Marion, Alabama, died August 25, 2006.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, August 30, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Eagle Grove Baptist with Rev. Bailey H. Dawson Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Avery; father, Mr. Chelsie Avery Sr.; mother, Mrs. Peggie M. Gerald; two sons, Kristian Avery and Kevon Avery; five daughters, KaBreanna Avery, Tyra Johnson, Patrice Johnson, LaShaunda Johnson and Joairera Conwell;

Wynelle Youngblood Owen

Wynelle Youngblood Owen, age 90, of Selma died Tuesday, August 29, 2006 in a local nursing home.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at New Live Oak Cemetery officiated by Rev. David Stewart. and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son, Robert Fleming (Martha) Owen of Selma; grandson, Robert Fleming (Cristi) Owen, Jr. of Prattville; granddaughter, Elizabeth LeAnne Owen of Birmingham; great-grandson, Wellesley Calvert Owen of Prattville; great-granddaughter, Cafferty Caldwell Owen of Prattville; special caregivers, Bessie Fuller, Sarah Carter, Annie Kidd, and Rosemary King; and a faithful homebound visitor, Ramona Kincy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wellesley Patrick Owen.

Honorary Pallbearers will be James Boatwright, Ronnie Coffee, Gerald Anderson, Bobby Willis, Jake Shanahan, and Gordon Welch.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Music Ministry of First Baptist Church.

Zula Mae Rawls

Graveside services for Zula Mae Rawls, who died Tuesday, August 29, 2006, will be at 3 p.m. Friday in New Live Oak Cemetery, Selma. Dr. Jerry Henry will officiate. Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home of Fairhope is directing.

Friends may visit with the family from 1:30 to 2:30 at Elkdale Baptist Church.

Born August 29, 1914 in Selma, she lived in Selma all of her life until June 2006 when she moved to Fairhope. While in Selma, Zula was active in all the activities of First Baptist Church, then of Elkdale Baptist Church. She was a member of DAR and volunteered in many community events such as Pink Lady and Meals on Wheels. She was an avid bridge player.

Zula was preceded in death by her husband, Russell I (Rusty) Rawls.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Rawls Hammill of Birmingham and Susan Rawls Henry of Fairhope; her two sons-in-law, Thomas Andrew Hammill and Dr. Jerry Michael Henry; her four grandsons, William Charles Porter, Jr., Jerry Michael Henry Jr. (Jenny), Russell Rawls Henry, and David Carroll Henry; and her two great grandsons, Lawson Michael Henry and Thomas Rawls Henry. Other survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Copeland of Destin, FL; sister-in-law, June Rawls Thomason (Wiley) of Selma; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her four grandsons as well as John Kenneth Henry and Thomas Carroll Henry.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that memorials be given to your favorite charity or the building fund of Elkdale Baptist Church, Selma.

Estell Todd Stephenson

Mrs. Estell Todd Stephenson, age 98, of Selma passed on August 24, 2006 at Sinai Grace’s Hospital in Detroit, Mich.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church. J.H. William Funeral Home Director.
