Incident under investigation

Yellow police tape was strewn around the Selma City Marina Thursday night as the Selma Police Department, Selma Fire and Rescue and the Dallas County Hazardous Materials and Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) Response Unit investigated a potential river spill.

Captain Dale Duke of Selma Fire Department said an investigation is currently underway.

“We don’t know what is, but whatever we find out we’ll let you know,” he said.

As officials continued their investigation, onlookers at the nearby marina restaurant kept close watch.

It was rumored among the crowd that a considerable amount of diesel fuel is the unknown substance.

Despite the flashing fire truck lights, the marina patrons managed to enjoy their night out.
