Infant Antonia Barton, Jr.

Infant Antonia Barton, Jr., of Demopolis, Alabama passed away August 13, 2006 at U.A.B. Medical Center in Birmingham, Alabama. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at Ebenezer Cemetery in Forkland, Alabama. Rev. William Branch will officiate. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements.

Carol Ann Davis, age 44, of Rockford, died on Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. at Curtis and Son North Chapel. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Cemetery with Rev. Joe Camp officiating. Visitation will be Friday, August 18, 2006 from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m.

Survivors include: husband, Frankie Davis, Sr. of Rockford; two sons, John William Johnson of Selma and Frankie L. Davis, Jr. of Germany; two daughters, Tonya Beal and Angela Davis both of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren, Kayla Beal, Brittany Davis, Lexus Beal, and Abby Beal all of Pensacola, FL; father, Robert Bedgood of Selma; step mother, Ann Bedgood of Selma; brother, Robert Bedgood, Jr. of Selma; uncle, Richard Bedgood of Selma.

Pallbearers will be Van Compton, James Alford, Lewis Mooney, Joe Jones, Steve Davis, and Ron Broadway.

She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, employed by the Department of Veteran Affairs, former member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church and native of Selma, AL.

Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.

Rev. Terry Dixon

Rev. Terry Dixon, a Selma native passed away to eternal rest on Saturday, August 13, 2006. He was born to the late James and Rosie Dixon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at the Travelers Rest Baptist Church located at 2112 Rex Road, Morrow, GA with Rev. Arthur L. Powell, Pastor, officiating. Wake will be held on Friday, August 18, 2006 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the W.D. Lemons & Sons Funeral Home on 2900 Joylake Road, Morrow, GA. The Family will assemble at 3440 Panola Road, Ellenwood, GA at 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Travelers Rest Cemetery.

Rachel Kay Grantham

Rachel Kay Grantham, age 72, of Prattville, AL passed away August 16, 2006. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2006, 11:00 a. m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rod Rochester, Rev. Robert Walker, Rev. Greg Melvin and Music Minister, Kevin McDaniel officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in Pineview Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be Friday, August 18, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Michael Grantham of Prattville, AL; two daughters, Phyllis (Keith) Sherrer and Peggy Grantham, both of Prattville, AL; four brothers, J. B. (Karen) Hollings of IL, David (Aleene) Hollings of IN, John Allen (Debbie) Hollings of MS and Lloyd (Nancy) Hollings of IL; two sisters, Hazel Bunch and Shirley Simmons; two sister-in-laws, Mary Hollings and Irene Anders and one grandchild, Casey Sherrer; niece, Connie (Terry) Smith; nephews, Willie, Micky, Johnny and Willard Grantham and other nephews and nieces and a special family friend, Melvin Johnson.

Mrs. Grantham was preceded in death by her husband, E. M. Grantham.

Pallbearers will be Casey Sherrer, Tate Bowden, Zack Tebbetts, Mark Cooper, Scott Bailey, Terry Smith and Jon Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Melvin Johnson and Dale Holt.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Boyd Bailey, Dr. B. Ganesan, Dr. Bailey’s nurse, Jennifer, ICU nurses of Vaughan Regional Medical Center and Jackson Long Term Care 5th floor nurses.

Annie Pearl Jackson

Annie Pearl Jackson, 69, of Hayneville, AL died on August 11, 2006. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Elam Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Smith officiating. Burial in Mt. Elam Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Patrice Darden Junis

Patrice Darden Junis was born on December 10,1970, in Fort Leonard, Missouri. She departed this life on August 10, 2006, in Jackson, Mississippi.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 o’clock noon at the Morning Star Baptist Church, 408 Buckeye Avenue, Selma, Alabama, Rev. B. T. Booker, Jr. Officiating.

She graduated in May 1988, from Selma High School, Selma, Alabama. Knowing that education was a key to success, Patrice pursued higher education at Enterprise Junior College in Enterprise, Alabama. She later transferred to Troy State University in Troy, Alabama, where she successfully obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and Communication in August 1992.

After graduating from Troy State University in 1992, Patrice worked as a Reporter/Editor with The Selma Times-Journal. She later moved to the Washington, D.C. area to pursue career opportunities. She realized her passion for writing and communications with the Bureau of Land Management.

Patrice later obtained her Masters of Arts in Communication, Journalism and Public Affairs on May 11, 1997, from the American University of Washington, D.C. To get closer to her southern roots and her family, she transferred to the Bureau of Land Management’s Jackson, Mississippi Office to work as an Outreach Specialist in January 2001.

Patrice will always be remembered as an outstanding Wife, Mother and Friend. All who loved her will cherish her friendly attitude, uplifting words and her ability to make everyone smile.

Laura Sue Hughes, age 77, of Selma, Alabama passed away on August 17, 2006.

Mrs. Jessie Isaac Scott, age 82, of Forkland, Alabama passes away on August 12, 2006 at D.C.H. Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Forkland, Alabama. Rev. Will Branch will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Demopolis, Alabama. Augustus Stevens, age 62, of Selma, Alabama passed away at his home on August 15, 2006. Funeral services will be Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Pineview Memory Gardens with Reverend Darryl Moore officiating and

Miller’s Funeral Home directing. Visitation/Family Hour will be Friday, August 18, 2006 from 7 to 8:00 p.m.
