To the Editor:

Selma is my home. I love it and want the best for it.

We have lived through a depression and several wars. Never in my lifetime have I witnessed such deterioration of Selma residences and buildings as in the present.

Ride through the western residential section, started at Water Avenue – drive up and down the section for many blocks north and south. Depression was the prevailing emotion that I felt and it will be yours also.

I passed homes of long departed friends whose property was seized by weeds, rotten boards and peeled paints.

It is disgraceful. Citizens, where are you? Is this the Selma we know? Is this the picture we exhibit to visitors? Is this the town in which you wish to live? Who is responsible and so negligent?
