JEMISON – Talk about acting your age.

Actually, scoring it would be a more correct way of putting things.

The Selma 14-year-old Dixie Boys lineup gave North Chilton all it could handle and more Wednesday.

And then there was the pitching, which was far better than adequate as well.

Keith Jones and Tre Daniels combined to allow just two hits over five innings in a 14-0 win in the championship game of the District 4 tournament.

Jones and Justin McAfee both hit home runs as part of a five-run first inning for Selma, and it was all downhill from there.

Reeling from the momentum that had already been built the other way, North Chilton squandered scoring chances in the game.

Selma scored multiple runs in each of the next four innings – three in the second, two in the third and four in the fourth – on its way to a berth in the sub-state tournament in Montgomery.

Selma will play at 9:30 a.m. against a team from District 5 – Montgomery, Auburn and Opelika – Saturday, July 22.
