Dixie Boys win big in tournament

CLANTON – The Selma 13-year-old Dixie Boys baseball team took out Prattville with ease Monday night.

On the strength of a late-inning scoring surge, Selma took an 11-1 win in the semifinal of the tournament.

Selma jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the first inning. By the end of the third, the team was up 4-1.

It was in the fourth inning that Blake McDonald gave Prattville its only run of the night.

Selma continued to increase its lead with one run in the fifth inning and ended the night with six more runs in the sixth inning.

Selma’s leading scorers were Richard Ghant, Jabaris Nardy and Connor Thorpe, who each had three runs.
