Simon Davenport

Simon Davenport, born August 22, 1917 in LaGrange, Ga., and moved to Selma in 1938 passed away on July 6, 2006, just prior to his 89th birthday.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry H. and Beulah Lee Davenport; two brothers, Albert F. and Billy; and three sisters, Alma, Opal and Betty.

He leaves behind his wife, Judy C. Davenport; one son, Henry E. (Peggy) Davenport of Robertsdale, AL; one daughter, Jean (Benny) Gambrell of Diamondhead, MS; a special grandson, David (Cherri) Summers of Selma; two other grandsons; three granddaughters; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U. S. Army in the Philippines and New Guinea.

He retired from Bush Hog Co. of Selma after spending thirty two years in the sales division, acquiring numerous sales awards during his career.

Pallbearers will be Cleo Conn, Vernon Cranmore, Mark Tuck, Tom Rirchardson, David Summers, Gerald Hughey, Howard Gray and Edgar Calloway.

Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Downard, Ken Dumas, Catesby Jones, Theodore McLeod, Ken Hall, Lamar Calloway, Winfred Brown and Calvin Frith.

Funeral services will be performed at Selma Funeral Home Monday, July 10, 2006, 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Micah Gandy officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2006, 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Elkdale Baptist Church Building Fund, 2221 Elkdale Street, Selma, AL

Infant Michelle T. Clark

Infant Michelle T. Clark of Faunsdale, Ala., passed July 3, 2006, at Bryan Whitfield Hospital in Demopolis.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 10, 2006, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Cemetery, Linden, Ala. The Rev. Mitchell Congress will officiate.

Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis entrusted with arrangements.
