Annie Ruth Norwood
Annie Ruth Norwood, age 54, of Selma, Alabama died on May 21, 2006 at her home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 26, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Rev. Terry Armstrong will officiated. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.
Survivors include: parent, Ola Ree Norwood; one daughter, LaChelle Norwood; seven brothers, Sherman, Leon, Willie James and Morris Norwood, David and Jessie Jones, Johnny Steele; five sisters, Maelean N. Brown, Melissa J. Milton, Rosie Mae McGinnis, Annie Ree James, and Mae Jean Mitchell; and seven nephews.
Catherine West Petttway
Catherine West Pettway, age 92, of Safford, Alabama died on May 22, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2006 at Christian Light with Alex Tenner officiating. Burial will follow in Williams Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service directing.
Survivors include: one son, Buster Pettway; a twin sister, Corine West Williams; three sisters-in-laws; one daughter-in-law; three nieces and four nephews.
Mrs. Clara Washington
Mrs. Clara Washington age 92 died on May 23, 2006 at her home in Selma, AL Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, May 27, 2006 at East Salem Baptist Church with Rev. W.E. Brown officiating and Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
She was married to the late Johnny Washington, Sr. This union was blessed with eight children. She was preceded in death by five sons,
Zollie, Joe, Willie, Leroy and Arthur Washington.
Her survivors includes: one daughter, Sallie Mae Washington of Selma, AL; two sons, George (Barbara) Washington of Tampa, FL,
Johnny (Elnora) Washington, Jr of Selma, AL and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins and friends.
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth
Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Ayers, age 98, of Gallion, Alabama passed away recently in Apopka, Florida. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Gallion, Alabama with Rev. Anderson Ayers officiating. Interment will follow in the Ayers Family Cemetery in Gallion, Alabama. Public viewing will be held on Friday from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with arrangements.
Lovenia L. “Dink” Teel
Warner Robins: Lovenia L. “Dink” Teel, 89, passed away on Thursday May 25, 2006.
Private graveside funeral services will be held in Cuthbert, GA.
Mrs. Teel was born in Selma, AL on July 19, 1916 to the late John and Katherine Smith Lassiter and was the widow of Emory C. Teel.
She attended school in Selma and graduated from Georgia State Women’s College in Valdosta in 1938, and in June 1940 married Emory C. Teel Jr. of Cuthbert.
In 1969 they moved to Warner Robins where Mrs. Teel continued her teaching career.
She was a devoted wife and mother and a dedicated teacher.
She was a member of the First Christian Church of Cuthbert.
Her siblings Jean Chisman and John Sidney Lassiter preceded her in death.
Survivors include her children: Mary T. (Robert) Mantiply of Warner Robins, Emory C. (Bev) Teel III of Ft. Pierce, FL.
Sister: Agnes Bell of Port St. Joe, FL.
Grandchildren: Tara Lee Teel of Bellevue, Colorado, Abigail Weston of Orem, Utah, John (Kandice) Mantiply of Stockbridge and Anne Mantiply of Warner Robins.
Nieces: Elizabeth McDonald and Frances O’Brien both of Montgomery, AL.
Three great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rosie L. Courtland, age 54, of Selma, AL died on May 18, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 12:00 PM at Morning Star Baptist with Rev. B.T. Booker officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Walker Mortuary directing.
Survivors include: parent, Willie Lee Courtland; four brothers, Nathaniel, Lorenzo, Amos Courtland and Clarence Hayes; four sisters, Deloris Walker, Brenda C. Atkins, Kaye C. Byrd and Sharon Courtland; nine nephews, eleven nieces, two brothers-in-laws, one sister-in-law.

Demopolis, Alabama – Mr. Milton Howard Ezelle, Sr., age 85, died Saturday, May 20, 2006 at Bryan W. Whitfield Memorial Hospital in Demopolis, AL.
Memorial services will be Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Oak Hill West Cemetery in Palatka, Florida with Mr. Frank Crabtree officiating.
Mr. Ezelle was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-four years, Helen Hancock Ezelle.
Survivors are two sons, Milton Howard Ezelle,Jr. and his wife Libby of Valley Grande, AL., Michael L. Ezelle of Demopolis, AL. Two grandsons, Brett Ezelle and his wife Brandy of Auburn, AL., Travis Ezelle of Hoover, AL. One great-grandson, Mason Ezelle of Auburn, AL. One sister, Lillian Reeves of Atlanta, GA.

Survivors include: wife, Mary Lillie Jones; one son, Raymond Jones, Jr.; four daughters, Lana Savage, Regina Jones, LaHomma Jones, and Shamika Jones; five brothers, Clarence Jones, Joe Jones, Jack Whorline, Jr., Curtis Jones and Charles Jones; five sisters, Mary Kimbrough, Rena Jones, Clara Dukes, Velma Reese, and Gwendolyn Green; nine grandchildren; two sons-in-laws; one daughter-in-law; one brother-in-law and five sisters-in-laws.

Tyler Butler
Tyler Butler, age 53, a resident of Farrington, MN passed away on May 19, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2006 at 2:00 PM at the New Shiloh Baptist Church in Sardis, with Rev. Coley Chestnut officiating. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery with J.H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.
Tyler Butler was the only child of the late Francis Moore Hutchinson. He spent the earlier years of his life in Selma and later moved to Huntsville, AL where he graduated from Council Training School and received his B.S. degree in Business from Alabama A&M University. He served in the US Army for two years and also served in the Army Reserves. He worked for Redstone Arsenal before moving to Minnesota where he spent the last years of his life.
He leaves to cherish his memories a father, J.S. Butler (Maryland); a step-father, Sydney Hutchinson (Huntsville, AL); children, Xavier McCrary (Atlanta, GA), Randall Battle (Houston, TX), Shawn Wesley (Maryland), Tamela Butler, Tameka Butler, Jeremy Caldwell and Crutney Caldwell all of Huntsville, AL. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren, many uncles, cousins and other relatives who loved him dearly.

Sandy Stone Wyatt, 56 of Moore, OK was born March 2, 1950 in Birmingham, AL and passed away May 24, 2006 in Oklahoma.
Sandra is survived by her husband Kelly Wyatt, sons, Anthony (Casey) Wyatt and Billy Wyatt, daughter Kristi Wyatt all of Moore, OK; grandchildren, Rylee Wyatt, Kelly Wyatt and Jacqualynn Wyatt; Parents, AL and Ann Stone of Billingsley, AL, three sisters, Anita McWhorter of LaGrange, GA, Jane Frith of Tuscaloosa, AL, Lisa Logan of Billingsley, AL, brother Jeff Stone of Billingsley, AL.
