Rudolph Harrison

Rudolph Harrison, age 88, of Demopolis, AL died on Sunday, May 21, 2006 at DCH Regional Medical Center.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Marion Cemetery with Rev. James L. Waters, Jr. officiating and Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel on Wednesday, May 24, 2006.

Rudolph Harrison was born on November 30,1917 in Perry County, Alabama. His parents were Allie and Lena Harrison. Mr. Harrison entered the Infantry on November 25, 1940. He was sent overseas in 1944 where he served in the European Theater. He engages in battle at the D. Day Landing on Utah Beach, The Battle of Normandy and the Battle of Northern France. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge. Mr. Harrison was appointed Post Master in Marion, AL on May 8, 1967 and continued in this position until 1979. He was a farmer, and in the Army Reserve. He retired in 1979 as a Lt. Col.

Survivors include: his wife, Jewell Yelverton Harrison of Jacksonville, FL; two daughters, Jane Harrison Lockwood (Jack) of Jacksonville, FL and Betty Harrison Allen (Gray) of Demopolis, AL; one son, Rudolph Harrison, Jr. (Vickie) of Marietta, GA; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Harrison Lockwood Greene (Kevin) of Jacksonville, FL, Jane Ashley Lockwood Racine (James Randall) of Jacksonville, FL, Holley Chapman Lockwood Hall of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Rudolph Preston Harrison (Tresa) of Birmingham, AL, Lois Harrison England (Lee) of Birmingham, AL, Katherine Leigh Harrison of Marietta, GA, Edward Gray Allen, Jr. (Naomi) of Demopolis, AL, Leah Allen Wilson (Michael) of Demopolis, AL; twelve great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Edward Gray Allen, Jr, Dr. Preston Harrison, Kevin Greene, James Randall Racine, Dr. Lee England and Michael Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Scruggs, Leigh Peagues, Roy Barnette, Jr., Paul Anderson, Corin Harrison, Jr., John Anderson, Tommy Middlebrooks, Carl Cooper, Clyde Yelverton, and Carlton Middlebrooks.

Porter Wilson, Jr. age 63, of Selma, Alabama died on May 21, 2006 in Selma.

Mr. Marion Moore Woodfin, age 94, of Sprott, AL died on Sunday, May 21, 2006.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at 2:00 PM at Marion Cemetery with Kirk Funeral Homes Marion Chapel directing.

Mary Francis Lewis, age 81, of Selma, Alabama died on May 19, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
