To the Editor,
We are 6th grade students from Stanwood, Washington and are doing a project on the Civil Rights Movement for a National History Day project.
After taking first at our regional competition we are preparing to compete at the Washington state competition on May 6, 2006.
Our project focuses on the Selma and Birmingham marches and their effect on the passage of the Voting Rights and Civil Rights Acts. We are interested in hearing from individuals who have memories or accounts of the marches and/or the effect on Selma and Birmingham.
Please help us make history come alive by emailing us at
or sending your recollections to Stanwood History Club c/o Ms. Sabrina Rode, 7400 272nds St NW, Stanwood, WA 98292.
