Gloria G. Martin

Gloria G. Martin, 78, of Metairie, La., a retired office manager for American Olean Tile Co., and Metro Contract Hardware, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, after a brief illness.

The memoral service will be 2:00 p.m. EDT Saturday at Culley’s MeadowWood Funeral

Home, Timberlane Road Chapel (850-877-8191).

Mrs. Martin was a native of Selma, Ala., and a longtime resident of Metairie.

Survivors include two loving children Mrs. Sherry Riley and husband Danny) and Mrs. Debra Placilla (and husband Bill), both of Tallahassee; seven devoted grandchildren, Marlo Ransdell (and husband Joey) of Tallahassee, Lisa Munroe (and husband Hugh) and Michael Schultz, all of Tallahassee, Clint Edwards of Selma, Ben and Justin Placilla, of Tallahassee, and Sarah Harris (and husband Chris) of Washington, D.C.; two great grandchildren, Joel Martin Ransdell and Brooke Harris; a great granddaughter to be, Sarah Kathryn Munroe; sister Angela Persons (and husband Lewis) of Tallahasse, and two dear sisters in law, Mildred Crisman of Selma, and Peggye

Gallagher.

She was deeply loved by her family and many friends.

Lucy Mitchell, age 74, of Selma, Alabama died on April 18, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Little Canaan P. B. Church with Elder James Beal officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Miller Funeral Service Directing.

Survivors include: one son, James Masco (Celia) Mitchell; four daughters, Ruby Nell Walter, Willie Nell Dixon, Shirley Jean Mahand, and Gwendolyn Jackson; one brother, Johnny (Lizzie) Perkins; two sisters, Doris (Mark) Brown and Lorene (Shade) Vasser; seventeen grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; one loving daughter-in-law, Linda “Charlene” Hamilton, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.

Jessie Lee Yelder

Jessie Lee Yelder, age 59, of Autaugaville, Alabama died on April 12, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Greater Mallard Chapel A.M.E. Church with Evangelist Fannie M. Burns officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery directed with Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include: two daughters, Artherine Yelder-Smith and SFC Rose Mary Yelder; three grandchildren, two brothers-in-laws; one sister-in-law; step sisters, Bettye Greatheart, Diane (Joe) Taylor and Hattie McReynolds Davis.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

Annie M. Whorline

Annie M. Whorline, age 81, of Orrville, Alabama died on April 18, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Little Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Willie C. Ellis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Service Directing.

Survivors include: six sons, Raymond (Mary) Jones, Clarence (Brenda) Jones, Joe Jones, Jack Whorline, Jr., Curtis Jones, and Charles (Essie) Jones; four daughters, Mary (Sylvester) Kimbrough, Rena Jones, Clara (Glenn) Dukes, and Gwendolyn Green; thirty-seven grandchildren, thirty-eight great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Also surviving is a special daughter-in-law, Rena Jones and two devoted cousins, Nancy Lewis and Adline George.

Ocie Rose, age 73, of Selma, Alabama died on April 13, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 1:00pm at Everdale Baptist Church with Rev. David Talton. Burial will follow in the churchyard cemetery directed by Miller Funeral Service.

Survivors include: spouse, Pearlie M. Rose; four sons, Calvin Blevins, Homer Rose, Sr., Jerry Rose and Ocie Rose, Jr.; six daughters, Gwendolyn Harris, Mary Johnson, Diane Tyus, Danette Bonner, Barbara Rose and Angela Rose; one sister, Willie Mae Lashore; twenty-seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, four sons-in-laws, one daughter-in-law, five brothers-in-laws, five sisters-in-laws and a host of other relatives.

Pallbearers will be children and grandchildren.

Sister Leona Barron, age 100, was born on July 20, 1905 in Marion, AL. She died on April 4, 2006 at Bibb County Nursing Home, Centreville, AL.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 8, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Mt. EBell Baptist Church, Brent, AL. Rev. Gregory B. Dumas officiated. Burial was in Hopewell Cemetery, Brent. Directed by Lee & Rollins Funeral Home.
