Carl Louis Seele
Carl Louis Seele, age 73, of Selma died on Wednesday morning April 19, 2006 at home. following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Mr. Seele was born in Belvue, Kansas on July 31, 1932 to Carl William Seele and Velma McKeown Seele.
Mr. Seele is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty M. Seele of Selma; sons and daughters-in-laws, Carl L. and Williemae Seele of Selma and John and Shea Seele of Montgomery, AL; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathryn Seele Brooks and Bill Brooks of Ozark, AL. Mr. Seele is also survived by a sister, Bonnie Seele of Topeka, Kansas; a half brother, Vern Fennell of Oklahoma; and grandchildren, William Brett Brooks, John Matthew Brooks, Garrison Ward Brooks, Justin Pruett Seele, Adam Louis Seele, Katie Elizabeth Seele, Abigail Ann Seele, and Emily Brooke Seele.
Mr. Seele was stationed at Craig Air Force Base and served with the Air Police Unit at Craig Air Force Base from 1951-1953. He was an insurance representative for Mutual Savings Ins. Company and Independent Life for approximately 17 years. Mr. Seele was owner and operator of Vacuum Service and Repair in Selma from 1964-2005. He retired from the vacuum business in April 2005. Mr. Seele was a member of Selmont Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Velma Seele.
Pallbearers will be William Brett Brooks, John Matthew Brooks, Garrison Ward Brooks, Barry Reed Bennett, Kenwood Curtis Nichols, and Scott Melton.
The family will receive friends at the Lawrence Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 on Thursday, April 20, 2006. Graveside services will be held at 2:30pm on Friday, April 21, 2006 at the New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Ed Bryan officiating.
Annie Mae Bell
Annie Mae Bell, age 70, of Selma, Alabama died on April 15, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Freewill Holiness Church with Elder Jerry Holman officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens directed by Miller Funeral Service.
Survivors include: four sons, David Lee Bell, Johnnie Lee Bell, Walter James Bell, and Aurthur Lee Bell; seven daughters, Eva Hollaway, Shirley Bell, Dianne Bell, Rosemary Wade, Linda Bell, Daisy Bell, and Brenda Bell; twenty-five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, two sons-in-laws, three daughters-in-laws, one brother-in-law, on sister-in-law; a special niece, Annie Haynes; a special cousin, Lillie Foster; a god daughter, Rosemary Armstead; and a special nephew, Jerry Holman.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
Corneila Jean Robinson
Cornelia Jean Robinson was born in Wilcox County on July 29, 1931 to the late Ms. Blanchard Major and Mr. John Henry Young.
She joined Mt. Ararat Baptist Church and was a faithful worker until she became ill.
She departed this life on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Ararat Baptist Church with Pastor L. L. Ruffin officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.
She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Eddie Robinson and her daughter Mrs. Willie Dell Chapman Paries.
She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Mr. Charles Bennett and Ms. Johnnie Ann Bennett Johnson; two sisters, three brothers, nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; a special cousin, Adeline Bowers and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Mattie Rogers
Mattie Rogers, age 101, a resident of Selma passed away on April 18, 2006 at a local hospital. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 21, 2006 at 1:00 pm from West Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. A. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in The New Live Oak Cemetery with J. H. Williams & Sons Funeral Home directing.
Mattie was born on September 4, 1904 in Lower Peachtree, Alabama and was preceded in death by her brother, Braze Rogers.
She was a resident of Selma for over 80 years and was a faithful member and supporter of West Trinity Baptist Church. Her life was a testimony of faith and loyalty to her Savior, Jesus Christ. Friends and those who knew her will miss her. Mattie touched many lives across many generations with her kindness, her generosity and especially her “Green Thumb.”
The family will receive friends at the church beginning one hour prior to the funeral service.
Mildred Rowan Youngblood
Mildred Rowan Youngblood, age 82, died Tuesday April 18, 2006 in a local hospital. Memorial services will be held at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, Carlowville, AL at 11:00 Saturday April 22, 2006.
She is survived by her son, Mike Youngblood, granddaughter, Christina Sullivan, and great-grandchildren, Sean, Gaylen, and Nicole Sullivan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Joseph Lee Youngblood.
