For the fourth year in a row, the Selma City Marina will be sponsoring the Valley Grande Baptist Open Buddy Bass tournament. The event is set to blast off at first safe light on April 29.
Last year, the tournament brought 68 boats to the Queen City, and according to Langston, there were a lot of fish caught as a result.
Registration for the tournament is set at $100 a boat. The grand prize, however, is a payout of $3,000, and second place pays $1,500.
Those totals are set with a field of 50 boats.
Also this season, Lee Bailey will be on hand for the Friday night rules meeting that is set for 6 p.m. on April 28.
Bailey is a professional bass fisherman who has spent time as a contender for the BASSMaster Classic on several occasions.
All awards will be presented after the last boat comes in to be weighed in. The event will end at 3 p.m.
Prizes will be given out at Valley Grande Baptist Church, and there will also be a fellowship meal that afternoon at the church.
