Anne Middleton

Anne Trice Middleton, age 75 of Collirene died Tuesday April 4, 2006 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday April 7, 2006 at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Elwood Sims and Dr. David Thomas officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Collirene Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday April 6, 2006 from 6:30- 8:30 p.m.

Survivors include her husband, of 50 years, Francis T. Middleton, three first cousins she considered her sisters, Doris Dickson Thomas, Anne Dickson Kidd, and Leila Dickson Arthur, son and daughter-in-law, Francis “Frank” and Julie Middleton, three daughters and sons-in-law, Leanne and Sandy Harrell, Kathie and Robby Nichols, and Barbara and Rob Haigler, six grandsons, Stewart Harrell, Clay Nichols, Drew Harrell, Tepper Middleton, Frank Thomas Middleton, and James Robert Haigler, five granddaughters, Melissa Kaye Nichols Howard, Kristen Harrell, Robyn Nichols Holley, Katianne Middleton, and Bethany Anne Haigler, and one great-grandson, Jase Howard, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Middleton “Miss Anne” had a special love for children. She taught school from 1955 until 2004. She taught at A.G. Parrish High, Hayneville High School, John T. Morgan Academy,

Lowndes Academy, and Selma Public Schools.

She was Youth Director at Church Street

United Methodist Church, Junior Choir Director at Bethany Baptist, Choir Director at Lowndesboro Baptist, Music Director at Pleasant Hill Baptist, and president of Alabama Elementary Music Educators Association.

Active Pallbearers will be Perry Woodruff, Traweek Dickson, Pierce Lane, Milton Holladay, Jr., Hal Scrugham, Jr., and Tony Holmes.

Honorary Pallbearers are Bill Otto Whittle, Bill Jones, Caswell McCurdy, Tom Rex Pickens, Tom Blake, Bobby Gates, and Bob Rives.

Donations may be made to Bethany Baptist Church or Pleasant Hill Baptist

Church.

Betty Jean Mitchell

Betty Jean Mitchell, 72, of Valrico, FL, formerly of Selma,

AL, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2006.

She is survived be her two sons, Frank Mitchell of Valrico, Fl and Melvin Mitchell of Middletown, OH; two brothers, Gerald Smith, Al and Grady Smith, AZ; Six grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00p.m., Sunday, April 8, 2006, at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, with interment in Mt. Olive

Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until

8:00p.m. at the funeral home.

Jeanette M. Burt

Jeanette M. Burt, age 86, loving wife and mother, was called by our Lord to join the angels in Heaven on April 5, 2006. She will be held in our hearts for all eternity.

We each cherish our memories of her special life and are thankful for the time we were blessed to have her with us on this earth.

Jeanette is survived by her husband, Vernon L. Burt, Sr. of Tallahassee, FL, sister, Evelyn Mizelle of Selma, grandson, Keith C Burt of Panama City, FL, grandson, Mark McMillian of Prattville, granddaughters, Karen “Kai” Page and Michelle Davis both of Crawfordville, FL, nephew, Carroll Burt of Petal, MS, niece, Vonneice Flora of Katy, TX, and niece, Charlotte Veach of Selma.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.

Saturday April 8, 2006 in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.

John Joseph McHugh

John Joseph McHugh, died Tuesday April 4, 2006 at home in Wetumpka.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday April 8, 2006 in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Orrville, AL officiated by Father Carroll Plourde and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home.

Burial will follow in Orrville Cemetery.

Mr. McHugh is survived by his wife Mary Ann Chappell McHugh of Wetumpka, son, John Joseph (Jennifer) McHugh, Jr. of Wetumpka, daughter, Deborah Anne McHugh of Selma, grandchildren, Jordan, Garret and Katherine, brothers, William Eugene “Gene” McHugh of Orrville, Marion Edward (Dorothy) McHugh, Jr. of Tignall, GA, sister, Aleatha Faye (Jim) Dally of Douglasville, GA.

Pallbearers will be William (Gene) McHugh, Marion Edward McHugh Jr., Clarence Patrick McHugh, Robert Ernest Hudson, and Bryan John Myracle.

Honorary pallbearers will be Thomas Allen Chappell, Devin Blake Myracle, Marion E. McHugh III, and Jeffrey Scott Hudson.

Mr. McHugh was for a long time the General Manager of the Holiday Inn in Selma.

Family Visitation and a Scripture Service will be from 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Friday at the church.

Willie M. Norris

Willie M. Norris, 84, of Dallas County died April 5, 2006 in Selma, Al.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Walker Mortuary.
