Opening Days for the youth baseball and softball leagues are Thursday, April 6 and Saturday, April 8 at Ralph &8220;Shug&8221; Jordan Memorial Stadium. Selma Parks and Recreation Director Elton Reece said he expects 2,500 young softball and baseball players to participate this year &045; free of charge.

&8220;With the support of the mayor and the city council, there’s no reason for any child in Selma or Dallas County not to play because it’s at no cost,&8221; Reece said.
