Sara Kathryn Whitcomb Radford

Kathryn Radford, 74, passed away Friday March 24, 2006 at her home in Selma.

A memorial graveside service will be held Sunday March 26, 2006 at 2:00 pm in New Live Oak cemetery directed by Selma Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the graveside service.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Robert Cecil Radford; son, Robert Mark Radford and his wife Sheri; daughter, Caroline Radford Gayle and her husband Tommy; grandchildren: Robert Lyle Radford, Sheri Lindsey Radford, Sara Virginia (Ginny) Radford, Paul Scott Alexander, Jr. and Kathryn Elizabeth Alexander all of Selma; sister Dorothy Whitcomb Capps; sister-in-laws: Christine Radford Vaughan and her husband Henry and Billie Radford; nieces and nephews: John Allen Radford, Jr., Nina Jean Capps, Michael Capps, John Capps, Diane Dinger Parker, Lee Dinger, Dinny Vaughan Meyer, Jarman “Trot” Vaughan and Henry Vaughan, Jr. Special caretakers, Thelma Johnson and Carolyn Smith, also survived her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nina Ruth Cabiness Whitcomb and Burton Lyles Whitcomb and her sister Margaret Whitcomb Dinger.

She was born July 27, 1931 to Nina Ruth Cabiness Whitcomb and Burton Lyles Whitcomb in Selma Alabama.

She married Robert Cecil Radford on November 22, 1947 and celebrated 58 years of marriage.

She was a lifetime member of Elkdale Baptist Church and retired from the City of Selma Police Department after serving this community for over 26 years.

Her family and friends affectionately knew her as “Sasie”.

In lieu of flowers, she requested for memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the Salvation Army.

Margaret S Stocks

Margaret S Stocks, age 84, a resident of Valley Grande, AL died Friday March 24, 2006 at home surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday March 28, 2006 at Elkdale Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Jerry Henry and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John C Stocks, Jr.

She is survived by her son, John Richard Stocks and his wife, Dorothy, of Selma, AL, grandson, Steven Ryan Stocks and his wife, Judy, of McAllen, TX; granddaughters, Kimberly Wasden and her husband, Robert T Wasden, of Mobile, AL; and, Karon Stocks of Lawrenceville, GA; three great-grandchildren, brothers, James E Skinner, Jr. of Valley Grande, AL and William E. Skinner and his wife, Margaret P. Skinner, of Montgomery, AL; sister, Miriam Saul and her husband, Oscar E. Saul, of Bainbridge, GA; sister-in-law, Edna Stocks Barnes, of Birmingham, AL; plus numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She was a 1943 Honor Graduate of Huntingdon College.

For 30 years she taught English as Robert G Parrish High School.

After retirement she was an Executive Secretary with The Peoples Bank and Trust Co.

She was a long time member of Elkdale Baptist Church where she was very active with its Hope Bible Studies Class.

Visitation with the family will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made in Margaret’s memory to the Elkdale Baptist Church Building Fund or to a church or charity of your choice.

Active pallbearers will be Thomas K. Dagostin, Robert Beers, Mal Driggers, Jack Morrison, Judge Johnny Jones, and Ray Denmark.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Hope Bible Study Class.
