Last Wednesday, Selma narcotics division officers gave chase after a driver raced by them in the vicinity of L.L. Anderson and Tremont Street, according to police reports.
The driver refused to stop and continued to speed through several stoplights in an attempt to elude police. The pursuit ended after officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle in the 900 block of Tremont.
The driver fled the scene on foot and managed to escape, according to officials.
Officers confiscated what appeared to be crack cocaine, with an estimated street value of $500 and about $300 worth of marijuana, according to Selma Police Chief Jimmy Martin.
Officers also confiscated the vehicle and tag, which had been reported stolen.
The suspect has a felony arrest warrant out on him and is facing a long list of charges, including several traffic violation charges, felony charges for possession of cocaine and for attempting to elude police, according to Martin.
Police know the identity of the suspect and are out looking for him now. Officials expect to make an arrest soon.
