The unbeaten Meadowview Christian Lady Trojans watched their streak come to a crashing halt on Tuesday afternoon.
The Lady Trojans were blanked 8-0 by the Lowndes Academy Lady Rebels.
The Lowndes Lady Rebs aren’t your typical Class A softball squad. They are runners from a year ago and play only a handful of Class A schools on their schedule of 25-plus dates.
Pitts allowed one hit, a first inning single to Meadowview’s Elyse McIntyre. From there, it was total dominance, allowing only a walk and scattering 13 strikeouts over the course of seven innings.
The Lady Rebs scored early and often, taking a 1-0 lead in the first.
Jordan Insinga was scored by Pitts’ single. One inning later the Lady Rebs tacked on another pair of runs. Jessica Ward and Kaitly Barron both reached with singles and then were scored by Ashley Wilkinson’s single.
The Lady Rebs added another pair of runs in the fourth courtesy of a pair of Lady Trojans errors, to push ahead 4-0.
Insinga, Chelsie Kilpatrick and Pitts come in to score in the fifth, effectively putting the game out of reach on a series of hits, highlighted by a single from Taylor Mills.
In the top of the sixth, Pitts and Kayla Garlock scored to bring the game to it’s final tally of 8-0.
The Lady Rebs improved to 7-2 on the season.
Meadowview dropped to 2-1 despite scoring early wins over Kingwood Christian and Wilcox Academy.
