The Hornets (1-0) went ahead 5-1 and held on to win by that score.

Andrew Harrison got the win by pitching a complete game and giving up four hits, striking out seven batters and walking none. He didn’t allow a hit from the fifth inning on and also went 2-for-3 with a double at the plate.

David Lawrence also went the distance and gave up five hits, walked one batter and struck out 11.

Chilton County (0-1) trailed 2-1 going into its half of the fifth, but two errors and two wild pitches allowed two Hornets runs to score. Jacob Paxton capped scoring for the inning – and ultimately the game – when he grounded out to shortstop to bring in Michael Bruno.

The Hornets’ Shane Moreland struck the first blow in the game when he hit a line-drive, solo home run to right field in the top of the first. Moreland was 1-for-3 in the game.

CCHS tied it in the bottom of the first when Joe Prokop hit a long RBI double to center to plate Wes Driver. Prokop went 1-for-3.

The Hornets took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Tyler Hollis came home from third on a wild pitch.

Randall Hamilton was 1-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and a run scored for DCHS.

Driver and Drew Dean each went 1-for-3 for the Tigers.
