Marion Swift McCormick

Marion Swift McCormick of Selma passed away Saturday, February 25, 2006 at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2006 at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. Cecil Williamson officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include loving wife Virginia “Libby” Perry McCormick, two daughters, Emily McCormick (David) Massey and Julie McCormick Yelverton.

Two grandchildren, David “Trey” (Krystal) Massey III, and Amanda “Mandy” (John) Wolf, four great grandchildren, Ashby Dalton Massey, John Wesley Wolf, Natalie Peyton Massey and Spivey Andrew Massey.

He was preceded in death by his parents Mildred Swift McCormick and Fredrick Moore McCormick, Sr., three brothers, Fredrick Moore McCormick, Jr., W.A. “Gus” McCormick, Sr., and John McCormick, Sr.

Mr. McCormick was born in Dallas County September 1, 1927.

He was educated in Selma public schools and later joined the Merchant Marines.

After

a tour of duty, he returned to Selma where he ran an electrical contracting business until the time of his death.

He actively served his community by supporting and serving on City of Selma Electrical Board, Salvation Army Board and helped for many years with Selma Market Day.

Mr. McCormick was a Selma Rotarian and served as secretary for many years.

He was also awarded the Paul Harris Fellow Award by fellow Rotarians.

Mr. McCormick was an avid aviator and enjoyed flying with his friends for many years.

Honorary pallbearers are Eugene McCormick, W.A. McCormick, Jr., Fred McCormick III, Deans Barber, Jr., John McCormick, Jr., John Rowell, Sr., Arthur Finley, David Pierce, Dr. P.C. DeBardeleben and Dr. Samar Fahoum.

In lieu of flowers, family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Heart Association or ones favorite charity.

Sara ‘Sally’ B. Rountree

Sara “Sally” B Rountree, age 84, of Selma, died at home Saturday, February 25, 2006. Graveside services will be held at Pineview Memory Gardens at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2006 with Arthur Carlton officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Rountree is survived by her husband, Charles A. Rountree, of Selma, her daughter, Anne Chance Braid of Bloomington, MN, grandson, Zachary C. Braid and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Zachary C. Braid, Francis Waters, Derek C. Parrish, Ken Schroeder, H. Lee Peake III, and Donald Wayne Fitzhugh. As an alternative to flowers the family suggests donations to Cahaba Hospice, 410 Church Street, Selma, AL 36701.

James Blandford Williams

James Blandford Williams, age 80, of Selma passed away February 23, 2006.

Graveside services will be Monday, February 27, 2006, 11:00 a.m. at New Live Oak Cemetery with Rev. George Birchler officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel Williams; two sons, James Blandford “Bland” (Pamela) Williams of Houston, TX and Alan Wayne Williams of Avondale Estates, GA; two grandchildren, Robin Williams (Scott) Davis and Lori Williams (John) Lakatos and 4-“1/2” grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blandford and Vesta Hester Williams and one daughter, Dawne Deanne Creel.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be made to Woodland Heights Presbyterian Church, 420 Highland Ave., Selma, AL 36701.
