Find a reason to attend class reunions

To the Editor:
Talking with others who have organized class reunions, they found it to be somewhat tedious. Some organizers have found that many of their classmates do not participate. Some common reasons I have heard are: the question of status – who has made it and who hasn’t, the lack of proper communication to get the word out to every one, people are overlooked and not notified, many do feel uncomfortable, and feel that the organizers are not genuine and that some classmates’ attendance is not important.
As former SGA president of the Class of 1997, I want to ensure that all of the above will not be the case for this class. Everyone is invited to the meetings, and everyone has a voice. We need each other in order to make this reunion a success. This reunion is not about one individual, but is about the class as a whole, working together.
It’s been almost nine years since the Class of ’97 graduated from Selma High School.
In 2007, we will all reunite for our first Class Reunion. In order to ensure that everyone participates in planning and organizing the event, I am requesting that we meet briefly to gather input concerning our class reunion. The meeting will be March 18, 2006, at the east side Pickard Auditorium at 3 p.m. If you have any questions, concerns, or if you are unable to attend, please call 715-3175.
It will truly be a blessing to see each and every one of you again.
