Selma defeats Keith for third straight win

Quinn Pernell scored 19 points and Cajun Pritchett 16 points to lead the Selma High School Saints, 63-55, over the Keith High School Bears Friday night.
“This was a good win for us,” Coach Willie Maxey said. “It’s our third in a row, as playoff time starts in a week.”
The game was tied 29-29 at the half.
Pritchett made three trays in the second half and Cameron Turner had 7 points – two 15-footers – in the third to give the Saints the win.
Selma’s Jimmy Smith had 8 points with Dre Benjamin adding 4 points and 10 rebounds.
Keith’s leading scorer was Alvin Jones with 23 points.
Lady Saints tune up for playoffs
Gabrielle Goudy is back. Goudy played her first game of the year Friday night.
The Selma High Lady Saints (17-8, area 6-4) were victorious over the Keith High School Lady Bears, 50-36.
The Lady Saints are 31-1 at home the past three years.
Junior Erica Lumpkin recorded her eighth double-double (17 points, 10 rebounds) of the year.
The Lady Bears’ Vanlisa Jones had 14 points and Shawntey Gooden added 13 points.
That kept the game close, with Keith down by three at the half, 24-21.
Senior Shameika Simpson had 9 points and 5 assists.
The game broke open with two long jumpers and three trays by Lumpkin, which put the final nail in the coffin for Keith.
Kemeka and Richelle Jones added four points each.
