Alfred Jackson

Alfred Jackson was born on November 10, 1937 to the late Mr. James and Ola Mae Jackson, who preceded him in death in Dallas County, Alabama.

He departed this life on December 15, 2005 at the University Hospital, Philadelphia,

He was also preceded in death by one brother, Morris Jackson and one sister, Rosie Mae Harris.

He was also married to Ida Mae Jackson and to this union, two children were born.

He leaves to cherish his memories three loving and devoted sisters, Mrs. Willie Mae Jackson Abraham, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Leola Jackson Stevens and Viola Jackson Dudley, both of Selma; five children, Lee Johnson of Toledo, Ohio, Alfred Jackson, Jr., and Michael Jackson both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Lucy Glover and Theodore Glover of Selma, Alabama; ten grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Hubert Hunter

A graveside service in New Live Oak Cemetery was held on Monday, December 19, for former City Magistrate Hubert Hunter, who died December 15.

The Rev. George K. Jones Sr. officiated and Selma Funeral Home directed.

Hubert, who retired as a sergeant from the Selma Police Department, was an Infantry veteran of World War II, serving under General George Patton in the North Africa campaign in which German General Rommel was defeated.

At his funeral the City of Selma Honor Guard was in attendance.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were former city judges and practicing attorneys served by Hunter during his term as magistrate:

Archie Reeves Jr., P. Vaughan Russell, Robert Turner Sr., Robert Blair, Frank C. “Ham” Wilson, Michael Jackson, Thomas ap R. Jones and John W. Kelly.

Hunter is survived by a brother, Herman “Tweet” Hunter of Prattville; step-nieces Sandra Boswell and Betty Walker of Selma; a step-nephew Henry Dubose and two special friends, Rece and Rae Roth of Selma.

Agnes Mae Oliver

Agnes Mae Oliver, age 79, of Selma died Saturday December 17, 2005 in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 20, 2005 at Pineview Memory Gardens officiated by Dr. Kenny Hatcher and directed by Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Monday December 19, 2005.

Mrs. Oliver is survived by her husband, William F. Oliver, son, William F. (Mary Ann) Oliver Jr.; daughters, Billie (Barry) Eiland, and Patricia (Jim) King, grandchildren, Chris Lombardi, Austin Eiland, Jamie Eiland, Jeffrey Eiland, Tony Oliver, Shane Oliver, Michelle King, Bubba King, Vicky King, Chrissy King, Tiffany King, Michael King, Johnny King, and Donny King; great-grand children, Marie King, Casey Fuller, Jimbo Mayton, Dylan Maton, Dakota Maton, Michael Mayton, Amber Logan Price and Don Price; brothers, Robert Boutwell, Edward Boutwell, Lucky Boutwell, sisters, Margie (Bill) Crump, Aline (Ray) Goudeau, Margeline (Louie) Lewis, Liz (Billy) Bond, Betty Ann Boutwell, nieces, Hope Hill and Alena (Tommy) Goodman, nephew, Craig Hill, and sister-in-law, Mae Stokes.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Joe Boutwell, William Boutwell, and Al Boutwell and granddaughter Marie King.
