Lady Warriors take third in tournament

Central Christian Academy Lady Warriors held their own at an Autauga Academy tournament Saturday.

The Ladies beat Taylor Road to win third in the tournament in the consolation game, 31-22.

Amber Motley led CCA with 19 points. Tiffany Brown contributed to the effort with four, while Keneshe McGhee pitched in with two.

The win helped take some of the sting out of CCA’s first round loss to Shelby Academy, 22-18.

Motley picked up four points matching McGhee’s four. Trisha Stacey picked up six in the losing effort.

Earlier this week, CCA picked up a pair of wins against West Alabama Prep and East Memorial Christian Academy, 35-9 and 41-21 respectively.

In Thursday’s game against WAP, Motley again led the Lady Warriors with 16 points. McGhee contributed with four points, while Stacey also picked up four.

In Friday’s game against EMCA, Brown led the team with 11 points. Motley, McGhee and Stacey hit eight each.

CCA’s Lady Warriors play Shelby Academy again on January 3 at CCA.

FMHS takes home win

Francis Marion High School beat the defending 4A champs, Greensboro, at the Sunshine Classic Saturday, 55-51.

Francis Marion struggled early in the game, trailing 17-7 in the first and 20-25 in the second. Their game picked up, however, in the third when they led 43-37, finally taking the win in the fourth with 51-55.

The Rams were led by Kevin Curry, who picked up 21 points, three rebounds and two steals. Johnathan Anderson contributed with 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals and three blocks. Antonio Collins picked up four points and five rebounds, while Justin Johnson picked up six points, five steals and four assists.

Greensboro’s Ivory White led with 20 points followed by DeMarcus Tubb with 10 points.

FMHS plays in the Pensacola Classic on Monday at 6 p.m. at Woodham High against Ruby Gainer High

School.

Selma High JV win

Selma High’s Junior Varsity Saints picked up a win against Greensboro Wednesday, 59-37.

Jakobe Shannon scored 20 points and seven assists. Tedrick Owens picked up 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The freshman Saints have a 9-1 record for the season.
