Deputies responded to an apparent gang shooting Tuesday night to find Kennetrick Hall severely injured.
Shot through the left front hip, the bullet exited the Sardis resident’s right back hip, investigators said. Hall is currently listed in critical condition at Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
“When deputies arrived they found one person laying in an apartment,” Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman said.
The shooting started in the 700 block of Circle Avenue at about 4 p.m. Four different residents in the Pine Hill complex called in and reported shots fired.
Two of the incidents were shooting into an occupied vehicle. One was shooting into an occupied dwelling and another was listed by police as reckless endangerment.
Deputies couldn’t find a suspect in those four shootings, but took statements from residents in the area.
Later in the evening, at about 8 p.m., deputies were dispatched on another shots fired call. They found the 25-year-old in an apartment and immediately called in an ambulance. Huffman said it appears the shooting was gang-related, based on information gathered at the scene during the course of the night.
“Basically what we got is group A shooting at group B,” Huffman said.
Hall told police he didn’t know anything about the attackers.
“He didn’t know who shot him or why,” Huffman said.
Huffman said that the victim in the 8 p.m. shooting is a “person of interest” in the 4 p.m. shootings. Huffman said no one will be charged in either shooting until his investigation is complete.
He said he takes this incident very seriously.
“(The incident) results in cars being shot up, houses being shot up and innocent peoples lives put in danger,” he said.
