Sometimes winning comes at a price. The Morgan Academy Senator football team finished their football season with a state championship. Less than a week later, they had traded in their shoulder pads and helmets for a new pair of sneakers and a red tank top signaling the start of the 2005 basketball season.
The 2005 version of the Morgan Senator basketball team played the first and second round of the Morgan Academy Tipoff Tournament on memories of plays designed from a year ago.
As a team, the Senators earned a third place finish defeating Central Christian on Tuesday but lost to Meadowview Christian on Monday.
The Senators, who never relinquished the lead against the Warriors, were led in scoring by Logan Cowart’s 18 points. Will Summerlin added 12 points and Weston Mason finished with nine points.
For the Warriors, Eric Curtis was the leading scorer with 13 points. Bryant Rawls tacked on 11 in the loss.
