Meridian &045; The Wallace Community College-Selma Patriots’ offense stalled in the second half of their opening game of the 2005-06 basketball season leading to a 91-78 loss to the Meridian Community College Eagles.
During that scoring drought MCC added 27 points to their side of the scoreboard.
Wallace led almost all of the first half of the game. They were sparked by Laquincy Landrum’s 12 points off the bench. The Patriots were up at the half 42 – 35, looking to steal a win on the road.
Meridian scored 10 straight points to open the second half and never looked back.
The WCCS defense also had trouble containing the Eagles’ Jordan Payne in the second half, who netted 32 points for the night.
The Patriots were led by Landrum who dropped in 27 points and dished six assists.
Brandon Thomas added 14 points on the night.
Martravias Hill and Tray Williams pulled down seven boards each.
Wallace’s next games will be at the Shelton State Tournament in Tuscaloosa Nov. 21 & 22.
