Sportsfans are never going to hear their respective coaches be angry about having a week off. Essentially, coaches will never say that an open week comes at a bad time.

The Warriors have posted a mark of 2-4 in the first part of the season. They have also banged heads with Shelby Academy, Sumter and Southern Academy.

While the score against Southern appeared lopsided in the agate columns, Dawkins did point out that his Warriors took an early lead on the Class A power.

Having an open week eight weeks into the season could be a double-edged sword for a team.

When the Warriors take the field on Oct. 14, it will be for the final three weeks of the season. Their remaining three foes only have a handful of wins between them.

They face West Alabama Prep on Oct. 14, then host MMI on the 21 and then host Cornerstone Christian on the 28.

While the three teams remaining on the Warriors schedule have less than stellar records, Dawkins and his Warriors realize that playoff season starts next Friday night.
