Seven years ago April Harper started a volleyball program at Selma High School.

Over that time she has seen her program grow.

This afternoon she will put a starting line-up on the floor that ranges from a seniors to eighth graders as the Selma High Lady Saints take on the Jefferson Davis High School Lady Vols and the Wetumpka Lady Indians in their first of four tri-matches during the season. The first serve is set for 4:30 p.m.

The Lady Saints have one game already under their belts, a road trip to Sidney-Lanier.

The Lady Poets posted a 2-0,

sweep of the Lady Saints to 25-17, 25-23 claim the match.

Harper says that she is surprised everyday at the skill level of her players and the way that it has increased from this summer.

Even though Harper has served her time on the sidelines and seen different line-ups come and go through Selma High, she doesn’t like to compare. She focuses on the teams that she has at that time.

Harper also knows that her assistant coaches are what help her out the most during practice.

Fred Scott and Wanda Tyler have been helping with the program this year.

The Lady Saints will take the floor this afternoon looking for their first win in a tri-match against Jeff Davis and Wetumpka that starts at 4:30 p.m.
