Robert Williams

Robert &8220;Sonny&8221; Williams, died Sunday, August 21, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Friday, at the Chapel of Lewis Brothers Funeral Home.

He was born on July 4, 1953 in Selma, to the late Willie and Rosie Williams.

Survivors include one daughter, Akua

&8220;Kejama&8221; (Anthony) Smith of Kannapolis, N.C.; eight sisters, Louise Johnson of Selma, Johnnie M. Walker, Laura McSwain, Geneva Shine, Betty Minor and Carlena Foster of Flint, Mich., Dorothy Jordan of Spring Valley, N.Y. and Mollie Etheridge of Mobile; four brothers, Willie Williams Jr. of Spring Valley, N.Y., Jimmy (Dorothy) Williams of Atlanta, Ga., Oliver D. Williams of Detroit, Mich. and James Williams of Salisbury, Md.; three aunts, Laura Taylor of Selma, Beatrice Bogan of Flint, Mich., and Willie M. Scott of Youngstown, Ohio; one uncle, Levi Taylor of Mobile; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends; two god-sisters, Jensie Allen and Lonnie Page of Selma.

Effie Mae Gandy

Effie Mae Gandy, 87, of Maplesville, AL, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at her residence.

Services will be held at Maplesville United Methodist Church, Thursday, August 25, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Edwin Cumbie, Rev. Ty Parten, and Rev. Billy Driver officiating. Interment will follow in the Maplesville Cemetery, Maplesville, AL.

Surviving are son, Mr. Leighton Gandy of Selma, AL; daughter, Mrs. Jewel Leevon (Johnny) Smith of Stanton, AL; brother, Mr. Clint N. Wright of Selma, AL; sister, Mrs. Vestelle Aungst of Panama City, FL; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Gandy was a homemaker. She was born June 26, 1918, in Perry County, Alabama. She was the daughter of the late Reuben Wright and the late Iola Lovett Wright.
