Eloise Jones Walton
Eloise Jones Walton, age 89, a native of Selma, AL, departed this life on Friday, August 19, 2005 at a Montgomery hospital, Montgomery, AL. For the past 13 years she resided in Montgomery in a private care facility.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. from Lewis Brothers Funeral Home Chapel, 1140 Minter Ave., Selma, AL. Internment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Eloise graduated from Alabama State Teachers College and also attended Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. She retired from the Dallas County School System after serving 38 years as an educator and mentor.
She was a faithful member of Clinton Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Selma, AL a community worker and always willing to help others.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John H. Jones and her husband S/M Sgt. William J. Walton and five siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one sister-in-law, Mrs. Vera J. Boykins; four nieces, Mrs. Rena Mae Hayes and Mrs. Pauline Goodwin both of Detroit, Mich., Joyce (Milton) Coleman of Cincinnati, Ohio; devoted care providers Rita (Richard) Nichols of Saraland, AL; two nephews, Don R. Crawford, Daytona Beach, FL and John W. Jones of Cincinnati, Ohio; a devoted and special goddaughter and caregiver, Pearlye Williams of Montgomery, AL; one godson, M/Sgt. Edward Malone of Selma, AL; and a host of great nieces and nephews.
A special thanks to Lee Cooper, Dr. Barbara Owens, Dr. Rafael Lopez and the entire staff of Jackson Hospital & Clinic.
James Earl Horton
James Earl Horton, age 54, of Selma, AL, passed away Monday, August 22, 2005, at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Fancher officiating and Selma Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at New Live Oak Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, August 23, 2005, from 6-8:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.
He is survived by three sons, Donald (Kim) Horton of Selma, AL, Jason (Rayne) Horton of Prattville, AL and Blake (Candice) Horton of Robertsdale, AL; one brother, Donald Lynn of Valley Grande, AL; three sisters, Betty Jean Foxhall of Prattville, AL, Rhonda Sanders of Crestview, FL and Jenny Conque of Jemison, AL; and five grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Roger Campbell, Mike Kynard, Charles Shoultz, Kirk Jones, Willis Scurlock and Paul Smitherman.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Christian Motorcycle Association.
