Icola Burks

Icola Burks, 68, of Selma, AL. died Tuesday, August 9, 2005, at a local

hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Christian Light Baptist Church in Safford, with the Rev. Nathaniel Parker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Charlie Lee Woods

Charlie Lee Woods, 59, of Selma, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2005, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy McDole officiating. Burial will follow in Fairlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Emma Woods; mother, Ethel Lee Woods; two sons, Charlie Lee Woods Jr. and Edward Owens both of Selma; one daughter, Belinda Woods of Selma; one brother, Mose (Barbara) Woods; five sisters, Isabella Woods, Christine Woods, Febbie Edwards, Daisy (Robert) Moultrie and Joyce Ruthledge; three grandchildren; two brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.

Active pallbearers will nephews and friends.

Luecretia Childers

Luecretia Childers, 90, of Selma, died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, August 21, 2005, at Wayman Chapel AME Church. Burial will follow in Childers-Tate Family Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Lois Stabler

Lois Stabler, 76, of Brent, died Monday, August 15, 2005, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Mt. Tabor Baptist Church in Brent, with the Rev. Sam Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Cooper Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Era Mae Foxhall

Era Mae Foxhall, 86, died Thursday, August 18, 2005, at a local nursing home.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Orrville Cemetery with the Rev. Tom Rimmer officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include a son, S.J. “Bubba” (Betty) Foxhall Jr.; daughters, Katrina (Norman) Whitcomb, Dorothy (Cecil) Williamson and Linda (Ronnie) Nix; and a sister, June Griffith; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Willie Martin

Willie “Bill” Martin, 72, of Selma, died Sunday, August 14, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Selmont Community Baptist Church with the Rev. D.L. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Zion AME Church Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Willie Martin was born on September 3, 1933, to the late Leola Martin Cunningham and Tom Martin in Dallas County, Alabama. He confessed Christ at an early age and joined the Providence Baptist Church. He later became a member of the Selmont Community Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Willie La’ Cheryl (Demetrie) Berry of Montgomery, Alabama and Sheria Ann Snowden of Detroit, Michigan; three grandchildren, Devin Berry of Montgomery, Alabama and Sadrick Stromas and Rodney Stromas of Detroit, Michigan; seven step-children, Ellis Walker, Lee Earnest Walker and Betty Joe Walker, Joseph (Arethia) Fail and Anthony Fail all of Selma, Alabama, Corine Fail and Lorine Fail of Montgomery, Alabama; Two sisters, Rosezna (Jerome) Gunn of Opelika, Alabama and Willie Belle Cameron of Birmingham, Alabama; four brothers, Tom (Kim) Martin and Henry (Helen) Furlow of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jesse (Debra) Martin and Albert (Lillie) Cunningham of Selma Alabama; two sisters-in-law, Mary Martin and Margaret Martin of Selma, Alabama; a friend, Minnie Williams of Selma Alabama one aunt; three uncles; three great grand children eight step-grand children and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was proceeded in death by two brothers, Napoleon Martin and Oliver Martin, Sr.

Ida O. Sigler

Ida O. Sigler, 86, of Selma, died Wednesday, August 10, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at the Chapel of Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. R. Marzette officiating. Burial will follow in Isabella Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include five sons, Robert of Syracuse, N.Y., Ernest Lee of Tyler, Joe Arthur of Tampa, Fla., Morris and Roosevelt both of Selma; five daughters, Willie Mae of Syracuse, N.Y., Lucille of Selma, Gussie and Ruthie of Syracuse, N.Y. and Carolyn of Selma; one brother, Henry Tarver of Birmingham; two sisters, Lula Hardy of Selma and Sara Harris of Los Angeles, Calif.; 32 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren.

Lucille Griggs

Lucille Griggs, 61, a resident of Birmingham, AL, died Monday, August 15, 2005.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Danny B. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Rudolph Cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing.

Leona Howard

Leona Howard, 59, of Forkland, Alabama, passed Saturday, August 13, 2005, at a Tuscaloosa hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Lloyd Chapel Baptist Church in Forkland, Alabama with the Rev. Clayborn May officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis, Alabama entrusted with the arrangements.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 20, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. at Greater Mt. Olive A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Ezekiel Washington officiating.

Burial will follow in Greater Mt Olive churchyard cemetery with Bell Funeral Home directing

Family Hour will be held on Friday, Aug. 19, 205 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

The remains will lie in state at the Church from 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Lew Tubbs, 48, of Marion, AL, died Tuesday, August 16, 2005, at his home.

Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Berean Baptist Church with Pastor C.D. Woods Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Norfleet Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Lenetta G. Tubbs; parents, Albert (Matilda) Tubbs; sons, Lew Antwan Tubbs and Cameron McKinley Tubbs; a number of step-children; brothers, Kenneth (Kum) Tubbs, Albert Tubbs Jr., Gregory (Hattie) Tubbs, Calvin Tubbs, Donald (Tina) Tubbs and Charles (Elsa) Tubbs; sisters, Cheryl (Mike) Brownfield and Stephanie (Willie) Leverette; aunts and uncles; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by mother, Ethel Tubbs.
