The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Earlier a call about a disturbance at the Little Cub market was followed by a request for assistance about a man with a gun.

The cruiser apparently struck the SUV in the left rear and the impact sent the SUV off the road and into the mud, where it appeared the front axle had snapped.

Two people, who have not been identified, were in the SUV at the time of the wreck.

Martin said that all those involved in the accident were treated for minor injuries.

Martin added that the officer was not injured in the accident, though the cruiser appeared to absorb the brunt of the damage.
