Elton Reece, Selma’s Recreation Director, was pleasantly surprised when he saw how many girls had signed up to participate in the city’s first fastpitch softball clinic.

Reece admits that he had been apprehensive about moving to a fastpitch program during the summer, but after this week’s camp he is gaining confidence.

For Hal Wynn, coach of the Faulkner Lady Eagles, he has been impressed with participants in this camp. When he agreed to sign on as instructor, he admits that he didn’t know what to expect.

Wynn says his approach has worked on the kids so far.

As for Reece, he plans to hold another kids clinic in the spring but plans to hold a coaching clinic during the fall.

Reece also plans to have a pitching clinic scheduled as well.

Reece said that he is going to try to get Wynn and his players back to do other clinics, depending on their schedule.
