For Dallas County High School football players and coaches, the months of speculation has ended.
Eric Hiott will officially make the step from interim to full-time head coach of the Hornets football program.
"I know there were several other people that interviewed and I appreciate the loyalty that Mrs. Jones and the community and that the booster club has shown towards me.&uot;
Hiott steps in becoming the third head coach in the past four years.
When Rick Bush resigned in June to take a job in Tuscaloosa, Hiott said the opening was one he couldn’t pass up.
Now that interim is removed from his title, Hiott is ready to focus on the season at hand and their first game against Maplesville High at the end of the month.
"This is a great place to be. The kids are good here. I’ve been at other schools where there are fights everyday and drug problems. DCHS is by-far the best school and I’m really thankful for the opportunity that they have given me.&uot;
DCHS opens their season against Maplesville Aug. 26.
