Four area teens involved in the Selma Police Athletic League recently returned from a national youth conference in Washington, D.C., where they learned how to become more involved in their community.

The teenagers, between the ages of 12-17, spent four days last week attending seminars at the PAL conference and touring the U.S. capitol.

Pressley said the four teens-Victoria Stephens, Susie Walker, Corey Howard and Jamie King-were selected to attend the conference based on their academics, attitude, and sportsmanship.

Stephens and Walker both described the PAL conference as &8220;wonderful.&8221;

Stephens said the trip was also her first time on an airplane. Walker said the Selma PAL group attended seminars about choices and consequences. Now that they have returned from the conference, Pressley said the four teens will oversee community service projects and recruit more students to join the PAL program.

Pressley said she was also proud of the actions of Howard and King during the conference. Pressley said King and Howard found a wallet full of credit cards and cash at the Washington, D.C. hotel where they were staying.
