Dewitt Freeman

Dewitt Freeman, 73, died Friday, July 8, 2005 in a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 11, 2005 at the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Johnson officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Freeman is survived by his wife of 53 years Mrs. Jane Freeman; four daughters, Gina (Glen) Freide, Shelia Freeman, Shirley (Rex) Roberts, Maria (Billy) McCormick; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; brother Roy Edward Freeman of Thomasville, GA and sister Edith Ledbetter of Anniston.

He was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Effie Freeman; brothers L.H. Freeman, Warnell Freeman, Ethel Freeman, Norman Freeman and Burton Freeman and sisters Edna Courson and Cecil Wiggins.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Freeman, Glen Freide Jr., Rex Roberts, Bobby Roberts, Kevin Carson, Tim Hurtado and Hugh Allen. Honorary pallbearers will be David Ledbetter and James Polland. Family visitation will be Monday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

He was employed by the City of Selma for 22 years at the Smitherman Building and also with Cosby Carmichael.
