A few drops turned into a minor thunderstorm Saturday night at Bloch Park, stopping the Dixie Majors District Tournament two pitches into the top of the fifth inning.

Win or lose Selma will play on Sunday at 4 p.m. In Saturday’s game, Pratt&045;ville jumped on the board first when Alex Popwell was scored by a line drive down the right field line from Chris Hayes.

Prattville added two more runs in the bottom half of the third inning. Chris James reached second despite the centerfielder for the Selma squad nearly making a diving catch.

Following a sacrifice bunt, James was scored on a squeeze play.

Turner advanced to second on a passed ball and then to third. James sprinted home one pitch later on an error.

Selma, however found their offense in the top of the fourth frame.

Chris Sewell led off with a walk and then advanced to second when Paxton beat out a throw at first, bringing the Prattville coaches out of the dugouts, partly to argue the call. Sewell scored when Ryan King hit a sacrifice.

Reid Tolar stepped to the plate and crushed a ball to deep left field, with it being two outs, Paxton trotted home.

The leftfielder however, misplayed the ball and Paxton’s run counted, moving them closer

3-2.
