Paul Holloway Sr.

Paul Holloway Sr., 77, of Marion Jct., died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at a Birmingham hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Potter Station, with the Rev. D. M. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Family Cemetery with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Holloway of Marion Jct.; one son, Paul (Gladys) Jones, Pauline (Roosevelt) Jones of Marion Jct., Edith

Holloway, Patsy (Thomas) Patterson all of Selma; two sisters, Anna Blakes and Maggie (George) all of Selma; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four sons-in-law; one daughter-in-law; three brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives. Active pallbearers will be grandsons and friends.

Vivian Ann Trone

Vivian Ann “Toosie” Trone, 43, died Tuesday, June 14, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Second Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Darryl Moore officiating, and Miller Funeral Home directing.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey J. Trone.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving mother, Rosie L. Trone; four daughters, Lashena V. Trone, Andreaka L. Trone, Andrea L. Trone and Keasha L. Trone; a devoted fiance, Lamar Walker Jr.; four sisters, Christine (Howard Walker), Lillie (David) Smith, Laquandd Trone and Dorothy Watts; four brothers, Alfred (Juanita) Moore, Freddie Moore, Michael (Alice) Trone and Cecil Moore; one uncle, James (Jewell) Moore; one aunt, Dorothy Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of true and devoted friends for life.

Ms. Trone was a graduate of Selma High School Class of 1982. She was secretary of Kings and Queens S.S.C. and also a softball coach of Federal Land Bank. She was very active in sports.

Curtis Lee Chandler

Curtis Lee Chandler, age 55, of Valley Grande died Tuesday, June 14 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 Friday, June 17, 2005, in the Chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home officiated by Rev. Paul Atchison.

Burial will follow in Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church Cemetery, Plantersville, Alabama.

Survivors include his wife Becky Catellier Chandler of Valley Grande, son, Harvey Bryan Pickering, daughter, Christie Pickering Cook. Grandchildren, Kara Danielle Pickering, Bryan Kyser Pickering and Warren Chandler Cook, brother, David Carl Chandler of Billingsley, sister, Helen Chandler Reed of Jones. Aunts and uncles, Chester Chandler of Prattville, Marguerite Burkhalter of Prattville, Clayton Sims of Illinois, Wilford Sims of Marion, Gene Sims of Maplesville and Naomi Davis of Mississippi. Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Billy Abbott, Jimmy Abbott, Gentry Smith, Ronnie Quarles, Keith Reed and Harry Burkhalter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Employees of International Paper.

As an alternative to flowers the family suggests donations to Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 444 County Road 347, Plantersville, AL; Homewood Church of Christ – Apartment Ministry, 265 West Oxmoor Road, Birmingham, AL 35209, or Cahaba Hospice, Selma, AL.

Preston Miller

Preston Miller, of Akron, Ohio, a former native of Demopolis, Alabama passed recently in Ohio.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at Miller’s Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Jefferson, Alabama, the Rev. Willie Vines will officiate.

Interment will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Nellie Mae Hunter

Nellie Mae Hunter, 63, of Dallas County, died Sunday, June 12, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 12 noon Saturday, June 18, 2005, at Sunny Acre Church of Christ with Bro. W.E. “Jack” Beeman Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include three sons, Clarence (Deion) Hunter of Oceanside, CA, James (Loretta) Moore and Willie (Chandrell) Moore of Selma; one daughter, Cynthia Horton and James Powell of Selma; three brothers, Joseph (Emma) Hunter of Mobile, AL, James (Ethel) Hunter of Selma and Calvin (Stephanie) Hunter of Birmingham; two sisters, Sally Jackson of Birmingham and Willie Lee Woods of Chicago, Ill.; 22 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; one son-in-law; three daughters-in-law; one brothers-in-law; three sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Active pallbearers are nephews and friends.

James Wiggins

James Wiggins age 78, of Mobile, Alabama, passed June 13, 2005, at a VA Medical Center, Biloxi, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2005, at 12:00 noon at Larkin & Scott Funeral Home Chapel, Demopolis, Alabama. Rev. Willie Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Demopolis, Alabama.

Family hour will be held Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Larkin & Scott Funeral Directors of Demopolis Alabama entrusted with arrangements.

Alberta Thomas

Alberta Thomas, 91, of Selma, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at her home.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Isabella M.B. Church with Miller Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; one sister-in-law; six nephews; and seven nieces.

Marion L. Tumbleweed Beach

Marion L. Tumbleweed Beach, of Chicago, Ill., formerly of Selma, died on Monday, June 13, in Chicago, Ill.

Services will be held in Chicago, Ill.

Henrietta Jones

Henrietta Jones, 84, of Dallas County, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at a local hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at Shiloh Baptist Church, Potter Station with the Rev. D.M. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery in Orrville with Lewis Brothers Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include four sons, Henry (Sinda) Jones, David (Anna) Jones, Roosevelt (Pauline) Jones all of Marion Jct., Solomon Jones of Tacoma, Wash.; one daughter, Clara (Archie) Cole of Mobile, AL; two brothers, Willie Smith and Samuel (Juanita) Smith of Orrville, AL; one sister, Dorothy Parnell of Mobile, AL; one son-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Clara Walker

Clara Walker, 99, of Selma, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at a local hospital. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18 at Everdale Baptist Church, with Min. Willie Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Miller Funeral Home directing. Survivors include one son, Ocie Lee Rose; and one daughter, Willie Mae Leshore.

Gloria Taylor James

Gloria Taylor James, of Shoiview, Minnesota, departed this life June 16, 2005.

Services will be announced later. She was the niece of the late Ruth Dubose, Rozene Rogers and Naomi R. Randolph.
