Wednesday, at approximately 7:48 a.m., three vehicles were involved in a fatal wreck in Wilcox County.
“It was on Alabama 10, about nine and a half miles East of Camden,” said State Trooper Melissa Hubbard. “Two tractor trailers and one pickup truck were involved.”
Hubbard said that vehicle one – driven by Daniel Clay of Jackson Mississippi – was a tractor trailer.
“He was traveling eastbound on 10,” she said. “Mr. Clay was injured.”
Vehicle two was a tractor trailer driven by Albert Lee Betts of Repton.
“Mr. Betts was killed in the accident,” Hubbard said.
The third vehicle, a pickup truck, was driven by Randall Evan Frye. Frye, who was traveling westbound, works and possibly lives in Andalusia.
One witness said that she came upon the scene of the wreck hours after it occurred.
“When I looked at it, I felt that someone might have been severely injured or killed,” she said. “The door was smashed in and the cab was destroyed. It was frightening.”
She said that after 3 p.m., officials where still clearing the road.
“When I left the accident scene at 3:35 p.m., the highway department and other workers were still cleaning up the road,” Hubbard said. “There was a lot of debris.”
Further details were unavailable.
