PAL teams sweep Honda squads, earn tourney win

The Police Athletic League added a pair of trophies to their trophy by winning their tournament held this past weekend at CHAT Academy.

The PAL squads had two teams competing in the A and B divisions, both teams finished the day as champions beating Honda/Alock 47-32 (B) and 67-59 (A).

They also notched victories over McBride YMCA from Bibb County and from teams from the Brown YMCA.

The event began at 9 a.m. and ran through 6 p.m.

Carrie Presley, Director of Activities for PAL, would like to send a special thanks to the volunteer coaches and to the volunteer officials that spent their day helping with the tournament.

The Police Athletic League will finish out the month of May by hosting their annual Athletic Banquet at the FOP Lodge on May 24, beginning at 7 p.m.

Tickets for the event are $5 and an be purchased from the PAL Center or the Selma Police Department.

Tickets can also be purchased from members of the PAL team. The last day to purchase them will be May 23.

The purpose of the Police Athletic League is to enrich the lives of young people, according to Presley.
