Robinson out as Southside coach

Fans of Southside High School will see a different coach stalking the sidelines of the Panthers basketball games.

On Wednesdy Coach Velton Robinson confirmed that he had been dismissed from his role as counselor and special education educator as well as head basketball coach.

Robinson stated that he found out on Monday, but declined to comment further on the situation.

In his three seasons at Southside, Robinson amassed a record of 47-13.

In the 2004-2005 season, the Panthers finished with a mark of 30-2, advancing through the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s state championship tournament to the finals where they were defeated by Greene County.

When called for comment Dallas County Superintendent Felicia Majors-McKenzie responded that she was unable to discuss personnel issues and was unable to comment.
