Stephen Lee Avritt

Stephen Lee Avritt, died Sunday, May 1, 2005, in Birmingham after a lengthy illness.

He was born in Selma on December 9, 1954, the son of Mary Virginia “Jenny” Moseley Avritt and the late Lester Lee Avritt.

Mr. Avritt attended Auburn University School of Industrial Engineering. His career took him to St. Thomas, VI, San Francisco, Calif., Maui, HI, and Miami, Fla.

He requested that his ashes be scattered in the rain forest on Maui.

He is survived by his mother, one sister, Diane Avritt Byrd; and a brother, Hugh Bradley Avritt; all of Birmingham.

A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 7, 2005, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

The family will greet guest immediately following the service in the Parrish Hall.

Minnie Rose Dantzler Dailey

Minnie Rose Dantzler Dailey, age 78, of Selma died Monday May 2, 2005 in a Montgomery hospital.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. Thursday May 5, 2005 in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home, Inc. officiated by Dr. Cecil Williamson.

Mrs. Dailey is survived by her children, Sandra D. Hogg of Selma, Malcolm L. (Janis) Dailey, Jr. of Morristown, TN; Robert D. (Anita) Dailey, Sr. of Macon, GA; Alan (Cindy) Dailey of Selma; James W. (Irene) Dailey of Montgomery, AL, grandchildren, Melissa B. Hogg, Margaret Rose Hogg, Meredith R. Hogg, Donald Ray Hogg, III; Justin L. Dailey, Erin M. Dailey, Leffie V. Dailey, Robert D. Dailey, Jr., William R. Dailey, Walter A. Dailey, and James W. Dailey; sister, Mamie Lee Solomon of Amarillo, TX, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm Lewis Dailey, Sr.

She was a member of the Selma Emblem Club 367 and Crescent Hill Presbyterian Church. Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Lawrence Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Selma Emblem Club 367 scholarship fund.
