Morgan and Meadowview to be represented in track final

The track and field at Memorial Stadium was an epicenter of track and field activity on Thursday afternoon with the preliminaries for the Alabama Independent School Association’s state championship track meet.

Both Morgan Academy and Meadowview Christian will be represented with competitors in Friday’s championship heats

in both the track and field events.

In the field events, Katie Taylor and Elizabeth Elliott will represent Morgan Academy in the shotput and discus.

Meadowview’s Micah Lolley will also be competing in the shotput.

MA’s Elizabeth Watters and MCS’s Haley McIntyre will go head to head in the girls long jump competition, while Josh McAteer will enter into the event as the leader in the long jump.

He will be competing against teammate Ben Callaway.

Callaway will also be representing the Senators in the triple jump, 300-meter hurdles and in some of the relay events.

Eric Pilcher is also competing in the triple jump.

On the girls side of the roster, Ally Bradford and Allison Peak will go head to head in the triple jump.

Bradford and McIntyre will go head to head in the 300-meter hurdles.

Thursday’s events were the prelims and today’s event is the finals.

Field events are slated to start at 1 p.m., with the field events following.

Mobile Christian and Faith Academy looked like the early favorites after the prelims.

But the finals could tell an entirely different story.
